Background

In 2015, Ms. Gina Lopez of Bantay Kalikasan (BK), an environmental arm of ABS-CBN Lingkod Kapamilya Foundation Inc. (ALKFI), coordinated with PCA RXII to seek assistance with a VCO Processing Plant Project. The project was made possible by the partnership among ABS-CBN Foundation, Sarangani PLGU, Kiamba MLGU and the Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA).

To date, PCA Region XII has provided various VCO equipment and machinery worth P1,606,090.86 for this project, under the Community Household Level Coconut Processing Project (CHLCP) CY 2017. PCA continues to implement CHLCP to empower and to strengthen the identified Community Based Organizations (CBOs), to help them engage in coconut processing and value-adding processing, for additional sources of income.

PCA RXII has also conducted a VCO production training to Kling VCO Producers Cooperative (KVCOPC) members on Sept. 10-21, 2018, through the initiative and efforts of PCA-Sarangani. The GMP and HACCP were incorporated in the week-long training, and was funded by ALKFI.
