Quezon City—The Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA) Central Office transformed into a festive wonderland as it hosted the Paskuhan sa Bayaniyugan Christmas Lighting Ceremony. The event served as a celebration of unity, gratitude, and the joyous spirit of the season, drawing PCA employees together as one family.
A solemn Holy Mass set a reflective and thankful tone for the celebrations. The ceremonial blessing of the Christmas tree followed, accompanied by the angelic voices of a children’s choir that lent a magical touch to the occasion.
Administrator Dr. Dexter R. Buted, in his first Christmas with the PCA, delivered a message that resonated with attendees. "This evening is a reminder that amidst the deadlines and challenges we face, we are a family united by a higher purpose," he said, reflecting on the PCA’s enduring commitment to the country’s coconut farmers.
Dr. Buted likened the PCA to a traditional Filipino parol--a symbol of light and hope that continues to shine despite challenges. “Like the coconut tree, we may bend during storms, but we always rise again,” he added, urging everyone to remain steadfast in their mission to support coconut farmers and their families.
The highlight of the event was the ceremonial lighting of the Christmas tree. Led by the PCA chief, the tree stood as a beacon of hope, its radiant lights symbolizing the collective efforts of the PCA to bring joy and prosperity to Filipino coconut farmers. Deputy Administrators Atty. Lucius Jun-Jun Malsi, Roel Rosales, and Roy De Vesa joined ADRB in expressing their gratitude to the PCA workforce.
The celebration transitioned into kantahan at salu-salo (singing and fellowship), where employees bonded over music and shared meals, strengthening bonds and fostering a family-like atmosphere. Attendees donned the signature Paskuhan sa Bayaniyugan polo shirt, reflecting the PCA's emphasis on unity and shared identity.
As the Christmas lights shone brightly, they served as a reminder of the organization’s mission to be a beacon of light for the nation’s coconut industry.
The Paskuhan sa Bayaniyugan Christmas Lighting Ceremony proved to be a meaningful celebration that reminded everyone of the true essence of the holidays: togetherness, hope, and unity. With its culmination, the PCA enters the holiday season with renewed energy, carrying forward its vision of resilience and hope for a brighter future for Filipino coconut farmers.
