QUEZON CITY β In a move toward organizational excellence, the Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA) formalized its commitment to the Philippine Quality Award (PQA) with a ceremonial "π£πΉπ²π±π΄π² πΌπ³ ππΌπΊπΊπΆππΊπ²π»π" signing. This event underscores the agencyβs resolve to achieve national recognition for quality and performance excellence, reinforcing its dedication to transformative governance and service efficiency.
Led by PCA Administrator &s CEO Dr. Dexter R. Buted, the signing ceremony was attended by key officials, employees, and stakeholders, all unified in their pledge to align PCAβs operations with the globally recognized Malcolm Baldrige Framework. The PQA, the highest national recognition for quality excellence institutionalized through Republic Act 9013, sets a benchmark for performance, strategy, customer engagement, and workforce development in organizations across the Philippines.
The pledge signing follows the successful three-day intensive training-workshop held from March 18-20, 2025. The workshop, facilitated by Engr. Angelica C. Fraginal, Managing Director of ACF Consultancy and Training Services, equipped PCAβs Technical Working Group with essential knowledge of the PQA application process, criteria assessment, and organizational improvement strategies.
During the ceremony, PCA chief affirmed that PCAβs pursuit of the PQA is a continuation of its journey toward operational mastery, following its ISO certification in December 2024.
PQA, modeled after the prestigious Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award in the United States, assesses organizations across multiple levels: Commitment to Quality Management, Proficiency in Quality Management, Mastery in Quality Management, and Performance Excellence. The Authorityβs goal is to elevate its status as one of the pioneering government-owned and controlled corporations (GOCCs) to attain this esteemed recognition.
The Pledge of Commitment, signed collectively by PCA officials and employees, underscores the agencyβs dedication to continuous improvement, service enhancement, and global competitiveness in the coconut industry. The pledge highlights the Authorityβs mission to elevate its operations, drive customer satisfaction, and ensure that its advancements benefit Filipino coconut farmers.
"πβππ ππ π ππππππ π π‘π ππ’π πππππππ πππ π‘βπ ππππππ’π‘ ππππ’π π‘ππ¦," PCA chief stated.
