More than 2.1 million coconut seedlings were planted in 2023 and at least 8.5 million is set to be planted this year under the PCA’s Massive Coconut Planting and Replanting Project, in line with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s commitment to the objective of planting 100 million coconut trees by 2028.

According to Administrator Bernie F. Cruz, the PCA projects the number of seedlings to be planted in 2024 based on its available stocks and the number of seednuts currently sown in its nurseries, which the PCA has amassed in part through partnerships with local government units (LGUs) and coconut farmers’ cooperatives and without any augmentation to its regular budget.

The Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA) joins this year’s Health and Wellness CONFEX on January 26-28, 2024 at the SMX Convention Center, Mall of Asia Complex, Pasay City, Philippines, with the theme “Go and Get Better: Regenerative Tourism Recharges All.”

On its first day, PCA shares a message on “Coconut as the Pillar of Philippine Agriculture Industry” in the opening ceremonies. Further, the PCA-Trade and Market Development Department highlights the Philippine coconut’s goodness and opportunities during a series of conferences at the convention to give insight into the benefits and prospects in the Philippine coconut industry in terms of health, wellness, and livelihood.

Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA) will hold an Online Public Consultation on the proposed Guidelines on Coconut (Cocos nucifera L.) Seedfarm and Nursery Accreditation which shall be held on January 26, 2024 starting at 9:00 AM through online meeting.

All interested coconut industry stakeholders, coconut farmers, farmworkers, nursery operators, representatives of concerned government agencies, civil society organizations and farmers' cooperatives and organization are hereby invited to attend and participate and give their position on the proposed Guidelines.
