The Philippine Coconut Authority Region XIV-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (PCA XIV-BARMM) is set to complete the two (2) ongoing KAANIB Coconut Hub projects before the year ends.

The first to be completed is the Iranun Corridor Coconut Hub Group located in Barangay Nituan, Parang, Maguindanao with 308 members. It is an Integrated Whole Nut Processing Plant established on a one-hectare land donated by the Municipal Local Government Unit of Parang, Maguindanao. It is fully owned and operated by coconut farmers that will process the meat, shell and husk from whole nuts to produce white copra, charcoal, twined fiber, geonets and coconutpith based organic fertilizers. The main proponent of the project is the Mindanao Rural Agricultural Development MPC (MIRAD MPC) chaired by Mohammad R. Abas. There are six (6) other coconut farmers’ cooperatives and organizations who are also part of the project. The facility had its soft opening on March 11, 2019 and has started operations in June 2019. It is expected to be fully operational by 2020.
The second KAANIB Coconut Hub project is located in Barangay Bugawas, Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao, which is also an Integrated Whole Nut Processing Facility with similar product lines to the Iranun Corridor Coconut Hub. It was established on a one-hectare parcel of land donated by a member of the main proponent, which is the Cawa-Dadiangas Farmers Marketing Cooperative chaired by Nasrudin G. Mohamad. Five (5) other coconut farmers’ cooperatives and organizations with 234 members comprise the component-members of the hub. Their membership is composed of household members of Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) communities. This project is the contribution of PCA to the normalization process in the Bangsamoro under Executive Order No. 72, s. of 2019 of President Duterte. The facility is projected to be able to start operations by the end of the year, after the installation of the power supply system.
Officers and members of the two (2) hubs were trained on coconut agro-technologies and processing, organizational development, financial management, and business development and management by PCA, Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Philippine Trade Center (PTC), and, Kapaguyag Foundation, Inc.
